Payment Gateway Solutions for the Web Widgets Shopping Cart - Free Website Builder and Free Shopping Cart

Our shopping cart integrates with several payment gateways for free!!! A payment gateway is required to collect the money from the customer's credit card, and deposit the money into your bank account. A payment gateway is typically a bank, or a third party, that specialises in payment gateway solutions. Web Widgets, like all web hosting providers, is not a bank, and does not provide these financial services. However, we integrate for free to the most popular payment gateways around. Please read on to learn more about payment gateways.

	American Express You can apply to american express directly for a merchant account. They have a one time setup fee and no monthly fees. However, to accept payments online, you will need to connect this to your existing payment gateway. Check with your payment gateway first just to make sure they are compatible....

IMPORTANT: This pricing for the gateways above is subject to change, please consult your bank and/or each payment gateway for current pricing.

*Percentage transaction fees are charged by the bank who provides your merchant account. Some gateways require you obtain your own merchant account, and thus its important to consider the merchant account fees together with the gateway fees. Lower fees apply to merchants with higher total card turnover and higher average sale value (aka ticket size). NZ banks have difficulty competing with international rates on "card not present transactions", however they offer a faster turnaround on depositing funds into your bank.

*Free integration of payment gateways. This is subject to Web Widgets Ltd not being involved in the communication process with the bank. eg you provide us the required integration codes or certificates, and you setup all other cart customisation options. Or for a standard fee of $200 we will take a more proactive approach to help you communicate with the bank, setup your freight and other simple cart customisations. Note the $200 setup fee is compulsory for BNZ buyline integration if you want us to be involved in the process.

Note: We will consider signing up any payment gateway you suggest for a small fee. Payment gateways should provide either a linux/java based integration library, or provide secure hosted page solutions.

Not sure who to choose?

Paypal or PayMate is probably the best option for all new and small startup companies. Paypal is understood and trusted by the majority of international customers, and they now support 10 new currencies including NZ$ and AU$. PayMate support less currencies, but deposit your funds more quickly. PayMex only support NZ$, but they offer better rates than the other 2 (however they went bankrupt in 2008 and started up again under a new company, so don't keep big balances in there). The transaction fees are low and the setup fees are almost non existant. However, you don't officially have a merchant account, so your business name will not appear on customer bank statements.

However, if you are an existing retailer with an existing merchant account and sizeable turnover, then you are probably more concerned with percentage points. New Zealand banks will hit you hard for "card not present" transactions, however with the emergence of Paypal as a very real competitor, then NZ banks should become competitive and give you the assurity of a fixed transaction fee so you can better determine required margins for price markup. Remember you can review the transaction fee level as your turnover increases. Note, Flo2Cash offer a fixed percentage fee that is very competitive, and this percentage should be used in any discussions with your bank. If you are charged more than 3.5% then it's not a good idea to go ahead.

Irrespective of who you choose, be assured that Web Widgets do not lock you in. The only contract you have is with your bank or payment gateway. If you choose, due to an increase or decrease in sales or margins, that you don't have the best priced payment gateway, you can easily change your configuration in Web Widgets to any other payment gateway at anytime, for no fee. Very few other shopping carts in NZ offer you such independence of your payment gateway.

You can even support multiple payment gateways, ordered on page to your preference, and dependent on currency chosen by customer.
